Attorney General Announces Investigation into President's Adversaries and Jeffrey Epstein Links

This past Friday, Pam Bondi assigned Jay Clayton to oversee an inquiry into opponents of the President and their links with Jeffrey Epstein. This action came hours after the president directed her to begin the investigation.

During an announcement, the Attorney General commended Jay Clayton as “a highly skilled and reliable legal expert”. The official stated, “As with all matters, the department will pursue this with urgency and integrity to deliver answers to the American people.”

This development seems to diverge from a recent memorandum from justice department officials which indicated that documents related to Epstein did not warrant further inquiries. According to the memo, authorities “did not uncover evidence that could predicate an investigation against uncharged third parties”

Trump Calls for Scrutiny of Democrats in Epstein Case

The announcement comes as increasing pressure from the president on congressional Republicans to oppose the public disclosure of files concerning Epstein ahead of an upcoming House vote next week. Several lawmakers are anticipated to back the release.

Newly public emails from Jeffrey Epstein have brought attention to Trump’s previous connections with the sex trafficker, including details that he knew more about Epstein’s conduct than he has previously let on.

That same day, the President declared he would ask the DOJ to examine Epstein’s ties with Democrats, specifically naming Bill Clinton, Larry Summers and Reid Hoffman. Paradoxically, Trump also referred to the “Epstein hoax” as a “scam”.
